With our deep commitment to excellence in all aspects of vision, the co-ordination between the eye and the hand-foot co-ordination is very clear to appreciate.  Whether the interest is that of dyslexia training in eye-hand co-ordination or that of testing / training the visual skills necessary for sports excellence or for simply improving ones performance for day to day activities, the sports vision clinic offers tremendous value.

At this clinic we break the skills down into five categories:

(1)  Visual Concentration and Acuity - VCA
(2)  Peripheral Vision and Awareness - PVA
(3)  Tracking and Pursuit - TP
(4)  Reaction and Response - RR
(5)  Hand-Foot & Eye ratio - HFE

(1) VCA: The ability to obtain best acuity and develop the visual concentration and ability to locate any visual stimuli swiftly and accurately. This is appreciated by racing sports as with racing driver ( cars- bikes etc.) or downhill Skiing or other associated speed sports

(2)  PVA: The therapy in this category is to develop or enhance the ability to gain greater awareness and knowledge of the peripheral surroundings whilst concentrating on central targets. This training enables the subject to use the entire visual field which will help to improve and speed their reaction as well as overall performance. This is very useful for those who have sports interest in all ball games (football, rugby, basketball and so on.)

(3)  TP: The concept of this category is to enhance the ability to follow moving targets efficiently and accurately. This is of greater value to tennis players, fielding a ban as with football, basketball or table tennis. It is also valuable in all aspects of visual stimuli where it is required to develop the ability to locate the moving target and smoothly follow it without loss of direction and body co-ordination.

(4)  RR: This is a very important issue to all those who need to become better at their sports. Its aim is to develop the skills of reaction at the onset of the action, as with returning a tennis ball, catching a pass in basketball or saving a shot in football. This enhanced reaction should invariably lead to a pro-action controlled by the subject, as with kicking the ball at the right time, or passing it more effectively and precisely.

(5)  HFE. This is a category that is of great importance and governs all the above sections. Its aim is to train the binocular and monocular eye movements, dynamic acuity, fixation and accommodation/convergence ratio. The timing and activity selection improves and develop spatial integration and enhance visual memory, visual awareness, anticipation and reaction
